Is there a better alternative to windows explorer out there with more functionality e.g. display of more than one directory at a time, more info on files & directories, batch processes, etc?
I didn't know about FireFox a year ago, when I started using it I never looked back at IE.

I used to have a signature but it disappeared and I just couldn't be bothered writing another so please feel free to ingore this.

Here is my info, links are like us, they die. If any of these links are dead or are no longer freeware, at least you have the name of the program which you put into a search engine like Google & maybe you can let me know the latest info.
I am not recommending anything, my list gives you a starting point to find something to suit your operating system ( most people do not even mention it ) & skill level. What will work on my computer, may not be happy on yours. What I can understand, re how to install & run, may not apply to you.

Directory Opus is about the most comprehensive file manager you'll find anywhere.
Personally I prefer Powedesk largely because of it's launch bar in which you can create an instant shortcut just by dragging any executable to it.
There's a free lite version available:
http://www.v-com.com/product/PowerD...
Although it say trial it doesn't expire just limited functionality, an advertising bar and a nag screen on shutdown.

Wow so many replies all in one day, thanks a lot guys. I've had a look at a few of those and picked the Directory Opus. It does what I want & much more but it takes some time to get used to. I have also downloaded explorer^2 which is the new version of 2X explorer but have not tried it yet.
