Hi this is a busy night for me with probs!
Don't know if I am in the right area for this ? about connecting PC speakers.
My Dell computer is only a year old and my speakers don't seem to work anymore, except when I switch on I get a crackle but no sound comes through.
I have checked the speaker connections to my PC carefully but am still puzzled!
I had disconnected the IBM Via Voice microphone and headset as I do not use this software anymore and reconnected the <right sided> speaker plug which is a pale green colour to the Integrated Sound socket ((( ))) with the Arrowhead OUT, at the back of my PC.
I do not have a Sound Card at present.
Can you please advise me on the above information I have given what may be the cause as I have said I hear a crackle when turning the speaker switch on but no sound comes out.
I have also checked on my PC the configurations, i.e. sound settings - + bass etc. and they seem OK to me.
Perhaps you have the answer for me!
Thanks in advance of any help.

Go to Control Panel. Switch to classic view. Double click the System icon. Click on Hardware tab. Then Device Manager Button. Find the sound card listed in Device Manager. Click the + sign and right click and remove all sound card devices and reboot the PC.
