I repaired an XP home installation and despite doing it a second time I have a problem in that the 'all programs' in the start menu does not show the programs available when program files are accessed under 'windows explorer' anyone know why? or how to fix it?

thanks for the help. actually the start menu is completely intact except for the the fact that on highlighting 'all programs' only a few standard ones are listed. The rest of the programs that are installed and are available do not appear. And this was after a repair of windows.

Most of the program shortcuts are stored in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu. It seems that Windows has lost these. Do a search to see if you can re-find them then check in the registry (regedit) under Software\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList that ProfilesDirectory is "c:\Documents and Settings" and AllUsersProfile is "All Users" •
