Everytime i turn on my computer and start up Windows XP, all of my fonts are shown as not being there. If i search for fonts to install, it shows them all in C:/windows/fonts but if i install a font (which will dissapper after i restart again) it is installed to c:/windows/fonts/fonts
does anyone have any info so that i wont have a desktop full of gibberish symbols when i start my computer?

Hi TiJ,
Download the PowerToys(TweakUI) from Microsoft. It has a repair function for the Fonts Folder. When you start it, on the left, look for 'repair', and then on the right, select 'repair font folder' from the dropdown combobox.

i was very excited to see that you had responded to my post, but when i clicked on the link to download the program, it downloaded and my computer gave me this error message when i downloaded it
TWEAKUIPOWERTOYSETUP.EXE - entry point not found
the procedure entry point GetDIIDirectoryW could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dllhow bad is that and does anyone have any new advice on what i should do?

kernel32.dll is one of the main .dll files of XP. Any fault in it could mean big trouble as well as small problem because many other programs access that file.
If there's more info about the errors, stuff that seems meaningless like: 0x00000000 , and such, post it anyway - it could be helpful in determining which .dll files aren't working properly.
While I check the Microsoft site, try this:
Press WinKey+R (that's the Microsoft-logo-flag-key +R) to get the RUN-box, and type:
regsvr32 mshtml.dll
to register that .dll file manually.I'll check MS now...

it didnt show any string of numbers when the error message showed. when i typed that into the Run box, it said: DllRegisterServer in mshtml.dll succeeded

Okay, no problem, but have you tried to see if the error was still there?

If you use System Mechanic, then that may have been the cause:

amazing! i had no idea that it would be associated with System Mechanic. #12 on that article helped me perfectly and ive finially restarted my computer without being scared of losing my fonts. thank you so much for your help.

Glad to help!!
The original link with System Mechanic wasn't posted by me, so maybe add a post in that thread I linked to, just to let everyone know that it worked for you too.
Enjoy the fonts !:)
