I have a dell mini netbook w/ igb ram. Atom prosessor.
I was trying to view a wmv file when i got a msg that I didn' have a required codec. An automatic windows media download was displayed to get the codec. Then all my file extensions were renamed to .ink..Now no programs will work. Restore, Explorer, Acronis all fail. Will not run setup.exe on the windows disc.

tomhafe, If you can't access the Internet with the problem computer use another computer to download that .reg file fix I posted a link to in my previous reply. Download it to a CD, floppy, thumb drive, etc, the transfer it to the problem computer's hard drive then try this.

Press CTRL-ALT-DEL and open Task Manager. Once there, click File, then hold down the CTRL key and click New Task (Run). This will open a Command Prompt window. Enter REGEDIT.exe and press Enter. Once regedit is open click File>Import and locate that reg file fix, hilite it and click Open.
