Whenever I try to run anything that is a .exe file it opens a save file dialog box, if I hit save file it just saves a new .exe file to the desktop which in turn requests a save file process. This even happens with the run function when trying to open msconfig or cmd. I can't reinstall windows as I am currently working with a DoD computer in Iraq and have no way to get the OS reinstalled. Also when this happens it opens a window in my default browser which is the only way to open the browser without it doing the same thing.

Try the instructions in Response Number 1 in the thread at the link below.

I saw that in the Post about the .exe files opening in word but didn't help my problem. I have also run Command Prompt to verify that .exe is correctly associated. It even does it for startup files, when I resart the computer about 11 IE browser windows open with a corresponding "Save File" dialog box. But still thanks for the idea.
