Hello everyone,
I posted this some time ago and the only answers I got was-it works on my machine. I have tried about 6 download managers, with all, the inferior xp downloader takes over. Any big downloads I avoid since I don't want to stay with the download. I have dial-up and have no intention of going to dsl. I would appreciate your help in possibly pointing out any adjustment that can be made in the os to zap it's own download software,
thanking you in advance for any help you can give me,
frank

Personally, i dont see what's wrong with downloading normally from IE. It _CAN_ resume, contrary to popular belief, its just kinda touchy. I've never been a fan of download managers myself, but search through the options of your d/l mgr, and look for like a preferance option over the "inferior xp downloader".. like a "use this one first" or something..

Sorry if that didn't help at all,

-Ian

Thank you Ian, I did not know it had that capability. I had no problem with 98 or me, only xp. The download mgrs don't seem to have the ability to push the xp aside, on some they ask if you want it to be the principle downloader, even with an OK, it is pre-empted,
thank for the input,
frank

I've had good luck with Star Downloader. It's free, and almost always does the DL. Once in a while, windows takes over, but not usually.

Hello Salgolf,
I tried that one too, I went over to zdnet and tested the d/l mgrs there with the various files they have, and the ie downloader took over everytime,
thank you for your input,
frank
