I have compaq 2.4 with a 256 cpu. The problem is when the system goes on standby the Alcatel speedtouch USB modem auto pluged off and ADSL disconnect.
why?

When the system enters standby it shuts off the hard drive(s) and monitor and also places the system in a low power state. This low power state my not provide enough power to keep USB devices active.

Why don't you fix your power management so that the harddrive and system never turn off. You can get there under right-click on desktop/ Click on Properties. Go to the Screen Saver page / Click on Power Management / Under when to turn off hard drive Click on "Never", under when to turn System off click on "Never."

You can still let your system turn off your monitor if you desire...

Hope this helps.
