My friend has an Alcatel Speedtouch 530 modem with Telstra Bigpond ADSL (self install kit) (Im in Australia btw). We have connected her modem & installed the software, but the light that signifies the DSL Line is up remains off, we have rang Tech, and they said her line WAS DSL enabled, and her filter is on correctly, her comp picks the modem up, sends bytes but doesnt recieve, all cables have been checked & rechecked. All software is installed. She is running Windows XP Pro, SP1

Any help EXTREMELY Appreciated.

I had the same problem when I first started DSL. It turned out that my house had a filter installed which prevented DSL entry into the house. You may want to get the phone company out there to check.

When all else fails, beat the %*#$! out of it!!!

I am in the US but I had my phone company install A " Home Run Line" from my phoone interface on the outside of my home and now mine works great.

Hi,

I was just setting up one of these for a customer and found that if the filter is installed the modem won't connect.

We then tried a second different filter (different type) and that still didn't fix it.

Try removing the filter and see if it suddently connects?

:-)
