i clicked a link that leads to "http://www.talkstocks.net" and says, "Whoaaa....look at what I found, click here" from my friends profile, only to find out that it has put the same thing on my profile. it hasn't changed my start page and i cant notice any other differences -- other than the fact that i cant have an AIM profile because the "Whoaaa....look at what I found, click here" wont go away. i tried a virus scan and to clean out the computer of cookies and other files, but it still shows up every time, even when i delete the profile it still comes back.

i have no idea what to do and no idea what this might do to my computer..... any type of help would be appreciated, thanks

It's actually not a virus.. virus scans don't pick it up.. I've tried several. Adware and Spybot also don't. It you click the link and go to the bottom of the page, it actually gives you a fix for it.. it's this little app that when you run it, it removes the file b.exe, which is what changes your profile. This is also not a virus.. it's how I got rid of it and it works fine.. I ran another virus scan afterward and my computer is fine. And yes my software is 100% up to date.

Supposedly the talkstocks AIM profile link is not a virus or anything, just annoying adware. Here's an automatic way to remove it. Go to this website and click remove: http://www.talkstocks.net/disclaimer.htm

Feez's advice works great! If you're "infected", go to the site, http://www.talkstocks.net/disclaimer.htm and follow the instructions at the bottom of the page. Let your antivirus stop the down load, follow your antivirus recommendation, and continue with the instructions on the website. It should clean you out!!

I've had the same problems and done all the same procedures as everyone else and nothing seemed to really work, just like everyone else. So I tried booting my comp. in Safe Mode where I then ran McAfee Virus Scan. I had run the scan several times before on Normal Mode which found no viruses. When I ran it on Safe Mode, it found the one that seemed to be the problem. I no longer have the virus. Try that on for size.

Nothing of this caliber is necessary. Just save your preferences and buddylist DO NOT SAVE BUDDY INFO. delete your screenname. and retype and login. Dont forget to reload your buddylist and preferences. It may work i told my friend to do it and it worked well so yeah. ok later
