hello, i noticed xp was freezing everytime i loaded up. after much trial and error, i found out that the problem was the agp read and write were turned on in the catalyst control panel, now the computer boots fine with them off, but the video is SO slow. the second i turn them and and reboot, it freezes. ive tried reintalling the latest nvidia gart drivers, the latest ati drivers for the card (9800xt), everything. but got nothing out of it. help

Sometimes the latest drivers are not neccessarily the best..Try reverting back to an earlier version and see what happens.

Especially if you found those "updated drivers" on the MS update site. NEVER use drivers from the MS update site. 80% of the time they are bad.

Go to device manager and uninstall all the drivers and reinstall the ones that worked.

well, i guess i only told half of the story, the new drivers were working fine until i decided to put a second monitor when it started telling me that i had to reinstall directx, which i did, but after installing and it telling me to restart, everything started. this thing has drived me so insane ive already completely formatted the computer and tried from scratch and still run into the same problem, im hoping its not hardware. if it is, got a videocard u can give me???

it could be a bug with that video card, try contacting Nvidia tech support to see if it is a problem on this card. and if it is, see if they relase a new version of the drivers. or if you cant wait, and you still have warrenty on the card, return it and get a different model. im not too familiar with the newest cards, so look around and see whats compatible with your motherboard.
