Okay, If I were to get a GeForce fx5600 (256MB), which uses 8x, and I run it on a 2x agp slot, what will decrease in the speed, quality of the card? Could the fx5600 running on a 2x slot, make it the equivalent of a geforce4 mx 420 (which sux)... I don't wanna buy a 5600 if running on a 2x slot wil decrease its performance that drastically.

Is your motherboard bios up to date? I think there is a speed decrease but I don't think it's that drastic. The card should run on a 2x slot. Maybe someone here can give you some stats on it.

Yea I'm pretty sure its up-to-date, why would that matter? and any more repliers would be helpful. Plus what is the difference between the different agp speeds?

be sure ur new CARD is capable of going 2x..there are voltage differences with the AGP slots. i beleive 8x has the smallest voltages and using your 8x card in a 2x slots may damaged ur video card..GOODLUCK
