Why won't my AGFA snapscan 1212p work in XP final? The drivers are installed (win 2k drivers from agfa beta) but the scanning software just crashes...

install the drivers/software (FotoLook 3.5 or ScanWise 1.4x) BEFORE connecting the scanner to your computer...

...found in www.winfaq.de (german)

I also have a agfa scanner 1212p. I followed the procedure Tector recommends, but does not work. I changed the printer port configuration to ECP, to see what happens. But, if I have the scanner disconnected , I get a box that says "CONNECT OR SWITCH ON THE SCANNER".
When I connect it, I get the message "has occurred an unexpected error. The application will be closed. Contact the manufacturer". Can anyone tell me what to do now ?

Have contacted AGFA UK and they say the scanner has been disscontinued for sometime and they don't intend on writing anymore drivers for it, as in the case of windows 2000.
Thats so unfair :-(

The only "solution" I found is to have a minimum Windows Millennium installed in the same machine, with SnapScan software in it.
Choosing at startup the operating system, Millennium or XP. Scanning the documents in Millennium, and putting into a folder.
Then, restarting the machine again, choosing
XP, and processing the scanned document from
the folder where SnapScan under Millennium left it.

The German WinFAQ provides a detailed description of the procedures needed to get AGFA Scanners work with Windows2000. So I think it might work with Win XP as well.

Take a look at:

http://www.winfaq.de/faq_html/tip0787.htm

(in german!)

I tried to do th same but I've got a box with "Connect your scanner". I am angry !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Agfa is a bad scanner manufacturer : they just can't provide drivers for their hardware. I tried the W2k drivers -> don't work.
I think I will ty the 1212u drivers (scanwise 2.0). I will told yoiu about it but i'm sure that it wson't work ...

Same s--- with me...
W2k drivers won't work, XP is not supported.
See www.support.agfa.com -> FAQ from 14/11/2001
No explanation, no technical background.

My suggestion:
Tell Agfa what product support means to other companies !
A satisfied customer is one which buys again ! Else not.

Hello,

I've installed Agfa SnapScan 1212p Win NT Drivers on Windows XP and IT WORKS PERFECTLY if you run FotoSnap or FotoLook UNDER WIN NT 4.0 MODE. But .... there is a big problem.

When you install scanner drivers your network configuration is lost (TCP/IP included) and I haven't found any way to restore it.

If you try to do this, REMEMBER MAKE A RESTORE SYSTEM POINT BEFORE.

If anybody find any solution about this, tell me, please.

I met this problem too.
And I have no solution neither.
But if you want to install 2 systems,
There is another choice except installing Me and XP .
The win 98 and XP works too.
You can scan in 98 and open it in XP.
The install order is 98 first and XP then.

Sorry,
Did not understand the dual install of Windows98 and Xp!
Both install in the same hard disk or the Windows 98 in one disk and Xp in the main hard drive.
Would you please be more explicit.
Thank you

The detail about installing 98 and XP in one computer.
First, install win98 to C: in default mode.
when you finished, install winXP in win98 , select "another system "or something like that(I forget what it is indeed) DO NOT select "replece the current system",install winXP in D:.
After finished,a selection between 98 and XP will show when the computer reboot.
If you still don't know how to do it,you can email to hisn@sohu.com or write on this forum.

Ok - Getting better.
You mean that I have to install two Windows Xp - one on Disk Drive C, over Windows 98, and other on Disk Drive D.
Is that what you mean?

Oh,sorry,my English is really bad.
Install win98 on Drive C
And install winXP from win98 on Drive D,
So you have win98 on Drive C and winXP on Drive D finally.
