Specs: Windows XP
I had this virus on my laptop, we managed to change its name and delete it, but now on startup I get a message saying the following file is missing or corrupt: \windows\system32\config\system and I don't seem to have an original set-up CD-ROM anywhere. Any suggestions?

what is the name of the file that is missing? The string you put up is just a folder path. Hopefully it is just the virus that is trying to be called.

I would suggest that you look at the two links below. The first is a tool that will allow you to check everything that you computer automatically starts up. Then other is link saying how to remove viruses.

Worth a look.

Thanks. I don't know what file is missing as what I wrote above is all I know and as far as I get starting the machine. I'll check those links. Thanks for the suggestions.
