I've installed xp 3 times with the same results. after the install & I boot for the 1st time, the system locks up during the
'welcome' splash(after the welcome audio)my
screen locks up & my (usb)mouse & ps2 keyboard are no longer active(like they've shut off). The only way I can reach the desktop is if: I boot in 'Safe Mode' or in
'debugging' mode. I cant figure this out, if
any one has any ideas on what the problem is
or if you know how to disable the splash screen? please help, im going freggn nuts.

oh yes Im using a KVM switch box for the keyboard
only. Im not sure if this is a problem since it
seems to work in safe or debuggin mode.

thanx

the only way u can be sure is to disconnect some things to narrow it down..U dont have any video cards or sound cards installed that could be causing a conflict? good luck

thanx y'all, your input makes sense, I will
try a different video card or drivers.

My install went the same way yours did. It turned out to be the Logitech USB mouse. I plugged in a PS/2 mouse and I got past the welcome screen. Try that first.
