Hi!! can anybody tell me from where i can get win xp compatible es1869 sound drivers( soundcard is built on motherboard. i got the updates from cnet download but they doesn't work.
thaks

Hi,
i have the same problem as you do, apparently, Someone told me to buy a new cheap card but if you happen to have a better answer, please tell me.
Thanks,
Julien

I have a laptop that has the es1869 chipset in it. I have had some success in changing the device settings in the BIOS. This has only brought me limited success. By this I mean audio is jumpy and also effects video playback. Sometimes on a good day with no real explination the sound card will function normally. BTW the problem with the chipset is the WDM driver want's a very limited number of memory addresses unfortunetly all the addresses conflict with the Standard CPU in both Win2k and XP. Also just a side note the board works fine in the following OS's, Linux, WinNT 4.0, Win9X, BEOS, QNX RTP. I would go with some of the above OS's if they where supported a little more and had the software that is available for windows platform. Feel free to email me to see if I have any new Ideas on how to fix this little problem that effects so few.
System:
Kapok 1200 model notebook
CPU: AMD k6-2 400MHz
Mem: 128MB PC66
Sound Chipset: ESS ES1869
Video: S3 Virge MX 4MB
HD: Toshiba 4.1GB

Same problem..I have a compaq 5140 that has es1869 audio...I can't find any drivers that work for the damn thing...(under windows xp that is)....anyone find any give me an email...

I have the same problem with my sound under windows xp. sometimes it works. mostly not. the only sound that is working properly is my tv-card sound. I have writen a support request to ess technolgy. If you want to know the answer (I'm still waiting for reply) just mail me.

This is the great reply of esstech:
"Sorry, the only driver available is the one in the latest XP CD. We don't
have separated driver."maybe some of you will try it again.
techinfo@esstech.comI'm still searching for an answer to my problem. so if somebody gets rid of this s**t please let me know.

The only ESS driver I can find in WinXP is for a Game Port. Does anyone know where I can get a driver that even works intermitantly?? This problem's really getting to me now!
