after format HD install winxp setup

i just format my hardisk 40gb.. and install windows XP. after windows setup and restart to install windows. I got a message saying: MISSING OPERATION SYSTEM.. How to Fix that probem.. any one Help.. thanks
There may be two ways. The first: the wrong bootable device is set in BIOS. So your system tries to boot from a CD-ROM or another HDD. The second idea: the HDD MBR was damaged before or while installation. This way you need to boot into the recovery console. Two commands 'fixmbr' and 'fixboot' will help you.
