Comment:

I had a crazy day with my computer today. When going to applications that had been open from the night before, I noted that Adware Generic4 had started executing on its own, and it kept me from accessing any application that was open. It severely inhibited response time to keyboard commands, and would not let me logoff or reboot the machine. Finally after trying every trick I knew, and waiting interminably for responses, I was able to reboot the machine and return to a normal environment and response time.
I wasted well over an hour untangling this situation. What do I need to do to keep Adware Generic4 from starting up of its own volition in the future, and where will I find your response ?

The reply fails to address the pivotal issue of how Adware Generic4 executed itself without request, and why it virtually crashed my computer, making all applications irretrievable and creating repsonse times that frequently exceeded a minute, and how to keep this from reoccurring in the future.

Your 'pivotal issue' is probably malware. Downloading and running the program suggested by probfixer, along with other malware detectors/removers is probably wise.

1. The adware ALWAYS execute itself without reqiest
2. When a computer has been infected with adware, you can expect it to CRASH and make programs irretrievable
3. To prevent it, please download Ad-Adware and scan the computer weekly...

NOTE: you should have another antivirus along Ad-Adware --- it`s spyware removal software only...
