It seems like an increasing number of websites are offering to install Adobe Flash Player.
My question is: are there security risks involved when using AFP?
I try to keep my PC as secure as possible (router, software firewall, antivirus, etc). I just don't want to install something that will compromise my computer.
Thanks for your input.

If you the Flash Player download it and install it from the Adobe web site. Avoid third party downloads as they may be compromised.
There is no inherent security risks with Flash Player.
Stuart

You are probably talking about Youtube and other sites like that.
What I use is a standalone Flash Player

I find that the new adobe flash players don't work well on my PC and when ever things mess up, I just re-install the standalone player...works GREAT!Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

Stuart is in fact right on the first part, download directly from adobes website.
but their is a possible risk, just very unlikely. You said your using a firewall, stick with it and youll be fine on flash.
for anymore security i recommend Firefox running NOSCRIPT.
AMD Athlontm XP 2400+, MMX, 3DNow, ~2.0GHz
Windows XP Pro/Corp 5.1, Build 2600 SP2
1GB of RAM
1-40gb 1-120gbD

I just this minute installed a player from a website. It came up with the little bar at the top, so I selected, and when the security warning came up, I verified that it WAS Adobe Flash Player, and the URL was to Adobe.com, and the file in my Downloaded Program Files is the Shockwave Flash Player, so I am pretty content.
Of course regular check for viruses, spyware etc will help you keep safe.
There is one subtle yet vital difference between opinion and fact; and the bigger man is he who can whole-heartedly admit this.
