There is something wrong with my Adobe software permissions, but I cannot resolve the problem by re-installing Adobe's software. It occurs whenever I try to use various components of the CS suite, but it isn't always the same component. I get an error message: "Windows cannot access the specified path, file or device. You may not have permission to access the item." When I try to export a PDF from Microsoft word (or print to PDF in any program). The error has the following file in the titlebar: Programfiles\Common files\Adobe\OBEE\PDApp.exe.
Sometimes the error refers to: Program files\Adobe\Acrobat\Acrobat 10.0\Acrobat\Acrotray.exe, also when trying to convert to PDF in the title bar. Sometimes I get both errors one after another.
I also get errors when exporting PDFs from InDesign-- ONLY when I export the PDF from InDesign, THE EXPORT GOES THROUGH AND THE PDFS FUNCTION, even after I receive the error. I've used these PDFs to print from with professional printers, so I don't believe it is the Adobe software that is the root of the problem because it functions properly, albeit my receiving an error message.
I have done a TON of research in forums on my own and the following fixes DO NOT work:
- Uninstalling Internet Explorer Upgraded Security and/or going into Internet explorer and checking the security settings/turning them down.
- Going to the precise file, right clicking and checking the permissions to allow sharing.
- Right-clicking the drive the files are in to check its permissions.
I've had a few viruses over the past 4 months, but none that Malwarebytes could not remove.
I'm running Windows XP Professional
Service Pack 3
