it's a laptop...that's a tough one.
You can try by doing a fresh install of XP, but if there is an adminstrator password installed, that may not be possible.

Some HELP in posting on Computing.net plus free progs and instructions Cheers

When you buy something at an auction, you sometimes get more than you bargained for :-)

Try this liveCD. Or just wipe the machine (you should do that anyway) and start your usage on a clean install.

The intent is to delete all the contents of the machine & reinstall Windows. Did the machine not come with any discs or did it come with some?

Good. The key on the genuine label is your license.

Do you have a Windows XP Professional disc? If not, no worries. Just have someone burn you a copy of XP Pro & if the key on the COA doesn't work during installation, just skip the product key entry part during XP installation & call the automated line once Windows is installed so that you can activate your copy legally.
