Hi
I need to repair my Win XP installation.
I try to boot from my Win XP Home disk, and I choose installation "1"( the only existing one) and the "R", for repair.
The system now asks for my Administrators password. Since I have never set such a password I leave blank. I now get "invalid password" and this is my problem.
For instance, I tried a utility called CIA commander, to reset the password. That utility failed with message "Error. No password set for this user id".
I really do not want to reinstall (lots of extra work). Can anyone give any hints on how to solve this?
Regards Kjell

The only one that asks for a password is recovery console. I think you hit the first r instead of the second one.
When you boot to the cdrom it starts going thru the set up just like it is gonna do a new install.
Let it load all the files it will ask you to hit f8 i think to agree to the licensing.
Then it will search for previous installed versions of windows.
Let it find it first xp will highlight it.
Then at that point you hit r for Repair the existing install.
So in other words during these stages it will ask to hit r for repair two times.
Choose the 2nd R.

Follow this link and follow instructions this will solve your problem
