Administrator sign in

Specs: Windows XP
I went into msconfig and turned off some applications so they would not boot at start up. I then get a message that only the administrator can do this. I thought I had the same priveleges as the administrator?
Can anyone help out with this?

f you are getting that message, tap f8 on bootup and log on to the administrator setting. Sounds like you may be trying to turn off microsoft services.....are you JUST removing items from start-up?

Some HELP in posting on plus free progs and instructions Cheers

I guess we all use msconfig at times but strictly it is for diagnostics. Wherever possible see if there is some provision in the individual programs themselves to prevent them from starting at boot time. This can avoid both ticked and unticked entries appearing in msconfig, which can only be sorted in the registry.

If you are disabling services these are best done elsewhere (services.msc in the Run box).
