Hey I understand taht the administrator password is used to protect, but I am the only user and my account password will not let me repair the windows program. How do I go about finding the password if I cannot access safe mode from F8? thnx in advance

Find out who installed it and ask them what the administrator password is. Be advised in XP home the administrator account actually holds the name "owner". Also, you can try various "default type passwords" like: blank (not the word blank, but in actuality no password at all), pass, password, passwd, administrator, admin and owner.
