ok...i dont know if anyone will even help me with this one but if you do and you dont want to post it here send the answer to li7@cox.net....
My boss has a winxp pro box, and he is only able to access the limited user account he was set up with.. the it guy(ya right) who set it has since been fired and never told anyone the admin password. He is not able to install some very needed progs for work or play ;)
ordinarily i would use something along the lines of cain and abel, but no admin rights so i wont be installing anything soon.

Or maybe somebody knows how to install a prog with out admin rights on winxp pro.

I tried seting it up as a scheduled task and letting the pc run it itself and i tried putting the installer in the start up tthinking maybe that would kinda get around it. But no luck.

Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Hi,
sometimes if your pc guy isnt real brite he might have forgot to set a admin password for the default admin account.(like 1 that we had here).
log out of the computer so you are at the welcome screen, then hit CTL+ALT+DEL twice (2 times)then the classic log in box should appear, delete the username and hit enter (no username or password).
If your luky you will be logged into the default user account (does all that make scence??),if that doesent work, basically your screwed, there is another way if the password exists but ive never tried it and i shouldent say here.

Here are a few free password recovery programs. I haven't used them but a friend said that they work very well:

There is also a piece of software from http://www.winternals.com that can break into an XP system (LockSmith) that will change any password. The software is not free, and will cost around US$100. Their new product, ERD Professional can also change passwords and is available from the same site.

A similar piece of software is also available from http://www.mirider.com that allows you to
boot off of a set of disks and change the Administrator password.

Backup your data. And Reinstall your WinXP from CD into same drive. Now set up an administrator account and set your own password. Then take the owner rights of all files existing. Thats all everything is yours.
