Hi

I've just upgraded an ME machine to XP Pro. All went fine, but I've noticed I don't have rights to change anything anywhere even logged in as administrator. Also Windows Update does'nt work, and some software/patches have difficulty installing. Is this all connected. Any ideas welcome.

Thanks

Martin

Hi Again

Had a look in my Security Options in Admin Tools, and found that both entries:

Accounts: Administrator account status
Accounts: Guest account status

say 'Not Applicable' and I cannot select any options as they are greyed out, any idea how to restore these functions?

Thanks

You can try start-run-type SFC /SCANNOW. Note space between C and /. You will need the xp cd. This shold repair/replace any missing/corrupt files.

Spot on Per!

Is there a report generated somewhere so I can see what was corrected?

Cool website by the way, I shall keep an eye on what you are doing there.

Many thanks
