So I have this laptop that I'm trying to get into.
To begin the bios has boot order set to CDRom, Floppy, HDD, Network.
The Laptop itself does not boot from CD. I've tried a couple different Boot CDs with no response.
There is no Floppy Drive. And the computer doesn't seem to have any easy swapping, so I suspect there never was a floppy.
And I'm locked out when it hits windows.

I've tried to boot using an USB drive, but the bios doesn't see it.

Any ideas how I could either reformat the system or get past the windows password?

Sounds like a hard drive password issue. There is not solution for that other than replacing the hard drive.

Who is the owner of the Laptop? Why can't they supply the password?

Relationship ended on bad terms.
Think a USB Floppy might work? or setting up some sort of network boot?

Not if it is a hard drive password. This is by design. You may need to replace the hard drive. Some laptops are even more difficult than that.

I have read there are companies that can somehow crack that password. Cost may exceed the price of a drive.

I suggest you contact the manufacturer for the correct information on how to rectify the problem.

"I'm locked out when it hits windows"

You mean you need to recover or erase the Windows login password? That's easy, but you need to be able to boot off a CD:

Its not a Hard Drive password, its when windows starts the account to log in is passworded, along with the admin account, both passwords are unknown.

I have found tons of ways if it would boot off cd/usb/floppy, but none when I can't get any access. One idea I've had is network booting it, would anyone have an idea of where to get the software that I would need for a simple network boot to dos prompt on the laptop?

Below is a link to PDF files including the Manual for that laptop.

There is evidently a removable drive bay in the laptop. So the CD/DVD combo drive may be removable. If so, try removing and reseating. Also may have some kind of BIOS setting to set for the type of drive inserted.

Options included floppy, combo optical, and 2nd HDrive.

I didn't get into the manual too far. Possible it has TWO bays.

I have removed the drive, reset, then attempted again, still does not boot from the CD.

The bios themselves are extremely simplified, all you can actually change in them is the boot order, system time, quiet boot, video display, set bios passwords, and sticky fn key.

Reading that site you list above, I see no options for floppy, in fact for the removables it just has Memory, CD or DVD Drive, Modem, Mini PCI Card (Inspiron™ 5100 and 5150 Only).

Could this be a CD Rom issue? on the site above when listing how to flash the bios it states insert the Bios Flashing CD and make sure its plugged in. Sounds to me like it would be booting off the CD.

Did you check the CD you are trying to boot on a different computer?

How about the message to hit any key to boot from the CD?

Below is an excerpt from the manual:

The Boot Order page displays a general list of the bootable devices that may be installed in your computer, including but not limited to the following:

Diskette Drive
Modular bay HDD
Internal HDD
CD/DVD/CD-RW drive

I take the diskette drive to mean a floppy drive.

Yes checked the CD on a different computer, in fact all 4 of the discs I have tried work on a different computers. All come up with the message, on this computer it doesn't have any sort of message and instead goes straight to the Windows loading then Windows login.

The boot order on in the Bios only has

CD-ROM Drive
Floppy Devices
Hard Drive
-HITACHI (Just the model of the current HDD)
OnBoard NIC

According to your manual you can Enable/Disable devices in the Boot selection menu. You may need to Enable the CD drive.

Look in the Appendix on page 122.

While I do have that feature it is enabled, I have even attempted to Disable the HD and everything else. In those cases says 'Operating System not found'.

Sounds like there is a problem with the CD drive. Check out the contacts when it is out.

Is there just one external bay? Are the disks you are trying to boot to CDR or factory CD?

May not recognize CDR media.

Both I have 3 factory WIndows XP discs I've tried. Also I have made a couple Windows password hex hackers, on CD-Rs.

That may be all due to the missing password. The manual refers to a system password and a drive password.

I am out of ideas. You may need to contact the manufacturer.

CD-Drive is dead. In the F12 there was a test of computer functions. While the CD-Drive self test passed, any other test it would fail to identify the disc in the drive as a digital data disc. SO huge Read Errors.

Well, you can't do much without a CD drive.
