Recently I restarted my computer and when Windows tried to load eventually a blank screen appeared and then it rebooted on its own. Now it gives me options whether to go in Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Networking, Normal Windows, etc. I have tried all of them but before they finish loading the computer reboots. So I put in my Setup CD and went into the Recovery Console and it prompted me for my Administrative Password. I do not recall ever setting an Administrative Password so I just hit ENTER and it said the password is not valid. What should I do?

Some manufacturers used the generic password until reset. It is PASSWORD.

I have used this websites CD image many times. It may seem complicated, but it really does everything for you once you boot up with it:

Here's an extract from ElderGeeks...

Recovery Console Password

On many XP installations you can't start the Recovery Console because it won't recognize your password. This registry edit causes the Recovery Console not to ask for a password. This works for both XP Home and XP Professional.

Start | Run | Regedit
Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Setup\RecoveryConsole
Set the DWORD SecurityLevel value to 1
Exit Registry and Reboot

It worked for me.. Good luck
