There is a website that I am having problems with. They update it throughout the day with new information. The problem is that I need a way to find out what was updated ie. sort through what is new and old - since they don't state that. I know about the find function and also advanced Google search with domain but that isn't helping at all. Any suggestions? Is there a fire-fox add-on maybe that might do it? I will be so grateful to anyone that can help. :) Thanks!

I don't think you could do it via the browser. It's the site itself that controls how the updated information is displayed. Here at CN a lot of post gets updated. We have to look for it.

Use an RSS reader. Firefox has a good extension you can install called Wizz RSS news reader.

Lol @ XpUser. I don't even use RSS but I've heard a lot of good things about it. Maybe I should give it a try.

Neither have I. I read on the net that very few people favor RSS. I also read that it won't be part of Vista.

I stand corrected amist reading the often conflicting news from various sources on the net. In any case I will pass this up for now.

Thanks for the info!

Will this just work on certain wesites? Like news websites?

How do I tell which websites use the RSS feed?

The website I'm trying to simplify & search is not well put together, not like CNN or anything like that! Just a local website.

If it's just a small company they might not have an RSS feed. You will just have to look on there site. A quick way to find it would be to go to their home page and hit ctrl-f and type RSS, then hit enter. If they have an RSS feed it most likely would be on there home page.

Okay not going to work...anyone with an answer...I'd be willing to make a donation for your time via paypal.

Here is the bloody website:

http://www.welist.com/calgary.html

It is a mess. I can not find out which properties are updated. They also leave old ads on there. You can't search it but only browse by category. I hate this site! Please anybody....

It is built into IE 7 as a new feature, so it will be available in Vista.

I think the current IE7 Beta 2 includes RSS. Google for it at M$$ site. Do the beta test for Uncles Gates & Ballmer. They will love you in perpetual.

OK. IE7 in Vista (the next generation of Windows) .. hold the horse .. won't be available until January 2007 unless they extend the releaase date again. Then when it is ready, make sure you have about $800 to buy it. Then will it or will it not work on your current machine remains to be seen.

Thank you xp... Does it convert html to RSS?
Not sure what I'm talking about...

Jan 07 isn't an option unfortunately.

The thing I don't get with that website is that there is no html code for the ads so comparing the code isn't an option. Utterly confused.

RSS is only valid for a site that supports RSS. The site you are having an issue with apparently doesn't support RSS. So, let's drop that for now.

Can you provide a link to the site so we can see what the content looks like and how the content changes?

Hey Michael - thanks! I figured out how to see what is updated. I'm too ashamed to admit what I missed though! :(

http://www.welist.com/calgary.html

I was able to use a scrapbook add-on and capture at times of the day then compare.

Is there a way to search this site besides the find command? I'm looking in the 250-445K range or NW or SW. I can use the find command but it won't search the entire ad. You have to expand each ad. I end up going over and over the same things. I've wasted probably 5 full days on that site...looking over the same things. Bottom line is I have to find new listings, with certain criteria, in a few hours fast in order to get a reasonable house.

Kind of hard to get around the sites functionality. Have you ever thought about contacting a real estate agent. They will do all that legwork for you and filter out only the homes that match your criteria.

LOL. Thanks Michael. Have an agent but good properties go within a few hours (with bidding wars) so I have to look at all options. Appreciate the tip though - this is really what my agent should be doing!
