I have a nvidia legacy motherboard with chipset nForce 415 and model NV7m. It comes with an integrated nvidia geforce2 videocard. My problem is I have 128mb ram from Samsung and I'm trying to add a Crucial 256mb ram. When I place the ram in and power up the pc, I get a beep from the motherboard and no boot up! When I remove the addt'l ram it powers up normally. I downloaded the latest drivers for the motherboard but still can't add the ram.
Any suggestions?

Take the 128 stick out.

Put the crucial ram in the first dim.

Reboot and see if it comes up.

If not call crucial and tell them what it is doing.

If it boots then turn it back off. Shut power off.

Install the 128 stick.

Power back up.
General rule is the larger size Ram goes in first.

If you still have problem , then move the 128 stick to the 3rd dim. try again.

Good Luck

Your new RAM may be 64Mx8 and your old ram may be 32Mx8bit.

THus they are incompatible. The only way to fix it is to get rid of the old ram and put the new stick in.

Either the Ram is bad, or the board does not support that particular configuration of 256 RAM or does not support 256 per memory slot.
