Haven't found anyone that's done this before.
I have a Ghost image that was made for a IDE system that I restored to a SATA laptop. Of course now that ghost installed everything, I get a blue screen on bootup because XP can't find the SATA drivers. Is there a way to copy/move/modify Windows files using a bootable LINUX CD in such a way that it will allow windows to boot successfully? I tried copying iastor.sys and .sy_ to the I386 dir and it didn't work (I still get the blue screen). I even tried the following:
1- copy the I386 dir from the freshly installed non-working laptop onto a mem stick (this was done with machine booted in linux) 2- restore i386 to my other windows PC 3- use nLite to add the SATA drivers 4- copy the modified i386 directory back to the laptop using linux

If you are Ghosting to a different computer than the host you will have problems even without the SATA driver issue. I have had problems when attempting to apply a Ghost image to the same computer with one piece of hardware changed. Unless all hardware is the same it will fail. That has been my experience.
Additionally, Ghost 2003 hasn't worked with my SATA drive. Can't even create an image with that version. Not working from Windows anyway.

Try doing a repair with your XP CD and it will allow you to select SATA drivers there.
