Add Remove Programs not working

When I try to open Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel, it only opens the window. It shows a blank page and does not "compile list" like it's supposed to. When I close the window and try to open it again, it doesn't even open the window. The screen just "flashes" and nothing happens. Please help me!

Peckinator, Have you tried a System Restore to the closest date prior to when this problem started? Check out the link below.

Thanks Tufenuf. No, I haven't and I don't really know how to do that. Besides, would that wipe out any docs I have made between now and then? I also don't know when it started because I have not tried to add/remove programs for like a year.
