Specs: Windows XP
I have tried everything but cannot get the addons needed for many programs to enableI recently added IE 8 but did the system restore but that only took care of a few problems. My add ons will not function even with them checked as enabled.. I have changed the settings and it still pops up add ons disabled. What can I do to repair this? I cannot even run the Microsoft trouble shooter
When I log off/shut down my pc the system doesnt even keep accurate time on the clock? Is it time to throw it out or is there hope?

You need to sort out your troubles.
If your system is not keeping time after shut down, the button battery on your motherboard needs replacing. But even this might not pay to do. I just googled your system since you did not give much in details and what I quickly read on the first few is not encouraging. It Uses PC100 memory!! and not that much of it!! I doubt that IE8 will ever run well on it (you might have been better off staying with IE6). If you REALLY need a system that old to work well, you might have to save your files and load windows clean with just the minimum of other programs running (nothing really at start up except antivirus), update windows but stop IE at version 6 or maybe 7, and max out the memory. Otherwise, I would recommend look for a decent buy on a newer windows 7 machine (get the most you can afford).
