Hi;
I tried to uninstall Adaware 2007 from my computer, and got the following message:
"AdAware 2007 - Error 1722. Problem with this windows installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected."

Now when I boot up I get this message asking to send a report to Adaware - "AAWservice.exe has unfortunately exepreinced an unhandled excpetion as was forced to close. Please submit this error, etc."

Two things,...how can I uninstall the program,....and secondly get rid of this annoying report nag.

Thanks!

Swinny1710, not sure if it's one of them or not, but some proggies demand that you use the uninstaller that comes with it. Seems it knows where all the bodies are buried. Maybe you need to reinstall it and look in the folder for one?

Thanks Ed in Texas;
I tried both the AAW uninstaller, as well as windows add/remove, and got the same result. I'm going to try your advice about reinstalling AAW 2007, and then try to unistall. I'll post back my results. Thanks again.

BTW,......do you watch Friday Night Lights, and is there a Dillon, Texas? (love the show!)

Hi;
Well, I've solved 1/2 of my problem. I've been able to remove Adaware 2007 from my computer, after searching the AAW forum. It seems that the 2007 version was buggy, and this problem is well known. Ultimately I had to use a program called Revouninstaller to get rid of it. A word of caution,...it digs deep to get rid of the every vestige of the program,....so a back-up is recommended. That part is solved.

The problem is that I'm still getting the "unhandled exception report" notification. The forum suggested locating the AAW service, and I used "Process Explorer", to locate and kill the service. I restarted the computer, and the report still pops up at boot-up. Now I'm stumped!!

Options:
I could reinstall 2007, and then uninstall,....but given the bugginess I'm reluctant to do that

There seems to be another version AAW Personal SE installed as well,...but when I try to unistall that, it says that it can't find the uninstaller. Maybe I'll try that first. The thing is this report only started when I tried to unistall 2007.

Any other ideas??? Thanks!

Try using CCleaner and go to the Tools option and that brings up an uninstaller. I don't know if that will help or not. When you get this resolved, just use Malwarebytes to scan for adware and malware. It's the best out there.

CCleaner - www.ccleaner.com
Malwarebytes - www.malwarebytes.org

Thanks deviant719;
When this all started, I tried using CCleaner's unistaller, but no luck in unistalling. The Revouninstaller was all that worked. I ran Malwarebytes last night after unistalling 2007,...and it found nothing. Thanks again!

ell it looks like I've solved the last 1/2 of the problem,...the report. This is what I did,....and not sure if it's a combo or just one of these, but:
- did run,...."services>msc", and disabled the AAW service
- ran Processexplorer and killed the service
- used Revouninstaller and uninstalled AAW Personal SE
- use CCleaner and cleaned the registry
- downloaded and installed AAW 2007,...although it didn't install properly, and then uninstalled it using the AAW uninstaller.
Voila,....error report gone. What a hassle though!
