I just got off the phone with a good friend and he told me that ad-aware has spyware on it.

I told my friend that he was wrong but he assures me that he knows what he is talking about. However, this friend has been known to tell tall ones and stand and live by them. Anyway, considering the very small chance he might be right, I will remove the program off my computer.

So is there any truth to this rummer of his?? Thanks for any help.

Your friend is an idiot.

Many people run both Ad-Aware and Spybot. If Ad-Aware had spyware in it, Spybot would find it.

No-one has ever posted anything on these forums to suggest this has happened.

I repeat...your friend is an idiot.

If your friend was joking, he got you good.

Paul, spyware is often installed as part of a program or by itself, whether you wanted it installed or not. It is not merely a file in the temporary internet folder. Deleting these files does nothing to Spyware.

Saw a post on a different forum a month or so ago where a guy using AdAware told his buddy that SpyBot was spyware. I use both, so I only bad mouth Norton and McAfee products.
