Any Idea??
ThanxProblem:
-I try two set up a ad hoc between two computers under XP.
-The wireless cards seem to work (green light and card configuration utility OK).
-In the "Network connection panel" the wireless connection icon is NOT visible and the connection is seen as a "local network or high speed connection".
-The "Wireless Zero Configuration Service" is running.
-The two computers do not see each other in the windows network panel. No ping is possible. They do if they are connected through a classical patch cable.
Config:-ad hoc "network" between one laptop (XP Home) and one workstation (XP Pro).
-2x 11Mbps Wireless PC Card (Wisecom WS-WP100)
-1x PCI adapter (Wisecom WS-WK100)
Driver:
-File: cw10.sys
-Version: 0.29.10.2a

You're trying to hook them up directly? If so, sounds like your "classical patch cable" is a standard Cat5 cable. You have to use a crossover cable....
Might be easier just to get a hub.....

1. Make sure that XP's firewall is off. This is the most critical.
2. Make sure the ip addresses of each computer are in the same range.
3. After doing both 1 and 2 make sure that each computer contains a MATCHING account (both username and password) of the one used to logon to the other. Or enable the guest account on each machine (something I would not recommend).

Thanks for answers:
1. About Lucid answer, I am not sure it is relevant, because I just mentionned the cross over cable to explain classical wired networking is set up and account setting is OK. I do not intend to keep working with a cable between the computers, it is just a validating step on the way to wireless.
However thank you for your hint.2. About Paul H answer, ICF/ICS is OFF, IP adresses are 100.100.100.104 and 100.100.100.105 with submask 255.255.255.0, and user accounts are the same on both computers. I also thank you for your answer.
My impression is that the issue comes from the fact that I do not get the "wireless network connection tab" even if WZC is ON... Something is not detected from XP, and I am looking for knowledge in this very narrow area... The best would be to get a "testimony" from someone using the same Wisecome wireless adapters... So I can compare XP configuration.
Help... (;-))...
