Hi,
I have been getting this error message for a while now, and nothing I seem to do fixes it. I don't have any problems with viruses or spyware or anything like that and this is really one of the only problems with my computer. It happens when I open up certain applications like my printer software and Avast antivirus (I deleted Avast but it used to happen). Hopefully someone knows how to fix this. Here is the message. Thanks.
one or more activex controls could not be displayed because either:
1. your current security settings prohibit running activex controls on this page, or 2. you have blocked a publisher of one of the controls.

In internet explorer click on tools at the top of the page and then click on internet options - click on the security tab and then click on custom level. From here you can adjust your active X settings.

Well the symptoms you provided is usually aqssociated with IE controls. What I am not sure about is your statement It happens when I open up certain applications.. I fail to associate activx problem with running applications other than IE. What applications are they to be exact?

That's what I've been so confused about also. I know that ActiveX controls like this are usually associated with IE and I don't even use IE, but when I open up applications like HP Director for my printer it gives me this error message. Also when I run Services.msc it gives me the same error. And, when I had Avast antivirus installed and I would open up the main program I would get the error. Sorry, I can't figure out anything else about it to tell you.
