Hi,
I am using windows XP professional and sometimes it fails to boot. When it does boot I check my log file and get the following message:
AMLI: ACPI BIOS is attempting to write to an illegal IO port address (0xcf8), which lies in the 0xcf8 - 0xcff protected address range. This could lead to system instability. Please contact your system vendor for technical assistance.
Does anyone know what this means or how I can fix it with changing some bios settings.

I get a similar message. AMLI: ACPI BIOS is attempting to read from an illegal IO port address (0x71) which lies in the 0x70-0x71 protected address range. This could lead to System instability. Please contact your system vendor for technical assistance. (I also get AMLI: ACPI BIOS is attempting to write) I have contacted the place of purchase and they have no idea of what it is. I am also using windows Xp pro.
