Acer Prisa 620ST won't run in XP

I have read all the MiraScan messages in this forum and followed the specific directions that BenQ provides with their "updated" MiraScan drivers. Repeatedly. Still, MiraScan reports that TWAIN cannot find the scanner. Device Manager lists both the scanner and SCSI adapter as working properly, but Scanner Properties in Control Panel says the location is unknown and cannot test it (the button is greyed out).

I have concluded that there are files or registry entries somewhere that should be deleted. But which? I have already tried removing all the twain and twunk files in safe mode before installing MiraScan, but that did not work. I have uninstalled every time I tried this, too.

BenQ has not responded at all. I have followed their instructions (they have three sets of instructions, mostly identical) repeatedly, and my results are identical.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I would rather try to get it to work, since I have a 98 dualboot and it works just fine in 98.

I found two answers, but now I don't know which was the one that did it.

First, I uninstalled MiraScan 3.42 and etc.
Then I installed an older version of MiraScan, 3.40
When setting up the hardware, I had several choices for the adapter driver. I chose oem22.

So now it works. I suspect it was in the adapter driver, not MiraScan, but no more experimenting for me!!

I have an Acer Prisa 620st that has never been used. I can't use it because the blasted thing won't work. I am running Win98se and downloaded Mirascan 3.42 from the Benq web site. The computer finds the scsi card but not the scanner. The scanner starts-up and performs as if it is ready to scan. When the scanner is connected and switched on, Windows will not load, sends me to safe mode. The scanner has never appeared in the Device Manager. Benq is of no help. I have repeatedly checked the cables connections and settings. Any suggestions would be appreciated

I too had trouble with w2k and wXP but managed to get assistance from Benq support.

They informed me that I would need to use MiraScan V4.03. It detects the scanner as a different model but it works (all features), which is the main thing.

hope that helps.
