I have a network computer running xp pro. I would like other computers on the network to be able to transfer and copy files to the cd burner on this machine. I already have it in file sharing mode and I can see and read files from the cd, but as of yet can not transfer files to this device from another computer. What do I need to do to make it work?

The xp pro computer with the cd burner has nero burning software installed.

Also, I would like to point out that right now I have an old 200 mgz computer with an external cd burner that uses HP cd-writer. The network computers can read and write to this cd burner just fine, but it is way too slow.

Regards,
Norma Travelletti

The best way to do that is to work at the computer that has the good burner. Simply enable sharing of the files to be burned and construct a burn just as you would if the files were local. If the burn fails for some reason then set up the next burn to write to the harddrive first.

If you use the Xp burner share this folder on the network.

C:\Documents and Settings\Buzz\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\CD Burning

just replace the Buzz with your username.

I've done this but I have yet to figure out how to let the other person burn the cd. You have to manually click the "Write files to cd" button.

Ok so it doesn't work. There is always a way to make things work but some are way too complicated and more trouble than they're worth. So...
Why not just create a group of folders on your system with the other users names as the name of each folder. Share these folders. The other user sets up the files they want to burn and sends them over to your system and deposits them in thier folder. They stroll over and move this folder or the files in it to the burning program and burns a disc.
Besides unless you have a robot, Somebody's got to put a blank in the burner.

I may be crazy, but I'm not stupid...
