Access violation error

CPU/Ram: AMD 1800+ Athlon - i gb m
Comment:

while playing a game i got the following error:

Access violation at 0x0045E4C5 (tried to read from 0x05AC0008), program terminated

anyone know what this indicates? thanks in advance

Sox,
I tend to lean towards the game using OpenGL for rendering the screens in the game. Service Pack 1 is supposed to clear this bug. However, try using a different setting for running your game. There are usually options in most games to set how you want the video to be controlled. OpenGl will be one of those options. others will most likely be SOFTWARE, or HARDWARE control.
