I've slaved a Maxtor 6Y120L0 120gig to a WD 40g so that I can transfer some files. Both are NTFS. Files that are not in the username 'steve' on the 120 are easily brought over but the ones in 'steve' are 'access denied'. I've tried 'allow sharing', unencrypting, searched on this forum, windows search and troubleshoot but nothing fixes it. If i run a search on the folder 'steve' it shows that the files are there. Any suggestions or help would be awesome, I have 5 days to do this!

Thanks,
Steve Munro

First open any folder click tool's ; view ; last option down is simple file sharing un check this box ; now accept all changes and close all windows

Now go to the offending file and right click on it You now have a new option SECURITY click that tab
Select properties
Select the security tab on the properties sheet.
Now select advanced
Now select owner
Change owner to and if their are sub directories then check the box on the bottom of the window and take ownership of those also
accept all changes you should now be able to open those folders
