My Grandson can't set his homepage to stay on selected site. It always reverts back to about.blank, which displays a search sheet.
We have checked for viruses and ran Spybot.
Microsoft says to go to the site you want and click "Current" in the homepage box and reboot and if it boots to the site you wanted the problem is resolved, but although it did just that once, it still manages to go to about.blank after getting out of internet and trying to get in again.
IE 6 and Windows XP. Any input on this problem is really welcomed.Ralph(jazzbo)

google to adaware and cwshredder. free. Install spywareblaster. update them before using.
Please post back within 24 hours or I will delete the post from my follow up list. Thanks. It would be a courtesy if you would post back and let us know if the fix worked or not.

You have what sounds like spyware. It is not a virus so to speak. It simply redirects you,, and maybe logs your keystrokes or what webpages you go to. No harm to data or the system,, but much much more annoying.
go and read this thread,, that sounds like what I have right now.http://www.computing.net/windowsxp/wwwboard/forum/121198.html
So far,, I have tried all the suggestions,, and it is still hanging around. I have about 24 hours to screw with it,, then ,, I rebuild. So I am up to trying anything because fixed or not,, it still gets rebuilt
I started the thread simply to try to get a handle on it for someone else that might be starting to go through the same thing. I hate giving up to spyware,, but I am really getting frustrated.
