about hard disks

Specs: Windows XP, 128 MB
i have an old pc which p3 processor with
500MHz speed which has 20GB hard disk.
recently it is damaged can i replace it with
80GB IDE hard disk and if replace it with
80GB IDE . will p3 processor support this? if i
have to install windows xp, do i need mother
board drivers or some other drivers for that?

system should handle drive with no problems. check with manufacturer to be sure. may need bios update And yes you will need drivers. Again go to manufacturer's web site ( dell, ho gateway ect ) download all drivers for make and model and put thim on cd so you will have them.

That system is too slow, not enough ram and won't run xp well at all. I would suggest you consider buying a different system from a donation center like Vincent DePaul or similar.
