Hi, IE doesn't seem to run fine for now (too slow, I've posted about this).
So till I reinstall windows (not any time soon), I've downloaded Netscape 7.1.
It loads pages fast. However, everytime I start it, I have to wait 1 min for it to load (using 18Mb of RAM). I feel like I'm loading Adobe Photoshop. Note, I've done custom installation of Netscape (no mail and all that stuff).
So, is there a light and fast browser out there??? A browser that just does page loading, bookmarks, history (basic functionalities). Man, I feel like writting one!!!
thanks,

I have the perfect solution for you:
http://www.mozilla.org
Download FIREBIRD, its the fastest, slickest and meanest web browser around.
BTW, Netscape is based on Mozilla...but FIREBIRD is a downscaled version of Mozilla and loads ultra fast.

Yes, go with Firebird. I've been using it off and on as my default, steadily for the past trhee months or so. A great browser. You'll still have to use IE for some sites, and for XP Updates, but Firebird should work on most sites.

What you need to do is make one little change to Netscape, which is very simple:
Load Netscape, then choose "Edit" (from the menu), then "Preferences", and under "Advanced", you'll see "Quick Launch" towards the bottom. Check "Keep Netscape in memory to improve startup performance". This should help considerably.
Firefox is fine, but if you want all the features of Netscape (and I do), then simply choose to load most of it upon boot (kinda like IE does).
Good luck.

Hi.
Domass is right. As far as I understand, Firebird is just the e-mail client of Mozilla, and Firefox is the browser-only version. I only use IE, but everybody seems to agree that Mozilla Firefox is an excellent browser.

Firefox is the new name for Firebird starting in version .8, they had to change the name because of copyright laws. Thunderbird is the e-mail client, it's stand alone. It has an interface somewhat like Outlook express. Firefox and Thunderbird are a spin off from the Mozilla suite which has a browser, email client chat and more. You can find this at the Mozilla site.
