Hey, everyone,
I have an interesting problem. I was going to do another defrag today, but I'd decided to run chkdsk (/f) first. I do so, schedule a chkdsk on restart, reboot, but chkdsk never ran. I think, "Screw it, I'll just defrag," but defrag sees that there is a chkdsk scheduled. I've tried tried letting regular chkdsk run, but defrag still recognizes the scheduled chkdsk (/f). fsutil sees C: as "dirty", as well, so I know chkdsk needs to fix something.
Please help,
Thanks.

Try running chkdsk /r. Go to start, run, type chkdsk /r and reboot, see if that gets it.If not here is a link to MS site about chkdsk.

Good Luck,
Rob

When I boot after changing the BootExecute entry in the registry to "autocheck autochk *", chkdsk says that it can't determine the file system. chkdsk in a cmd prompt says that there is a problem with the file system, however, I can't use chkdsk /f to repair it. Any, suggestions on repairing the file system without a reinstall?
Thanks.
