A drive repeatedly reads floppy

Hi! I've heard many people have problems with their floopy drive not being able to read a disc...I have the opposite problem. When I insert a floppy disc into the "A" drive, it repeatedly reads the disc til I pull it out. This happens with most floppies I've tried. Thanx for any input.

It may be looking for a file. Try this. Insert a blank floppy into the drive and shut the machine down. Remove the floppy after shutdown and start back up. Retest to see if problem is still there.

Well it sounds to me like the floppy is having trouble reading the disk and that's why it keeps trying to read it.
If u try writing/reading a brand new disk with no probs, then some of ur disks maybe corrupted. If it continues to try reading that disk that u just written to, then u most likely need a new floppy drive.
Hope this helps

You know I have heard of a virus that can do something like that. I would check it out. I'm not saying you have a virus, but I'd run a scan to be on the safe side.
