Problem at boot
A Disk Error Occured
Press Ctrl Alt DelI have a
Intel P4 2.8ghz (Asus p4b533-e)
512mb ddr Kingston
64mb Geforce 3
Raided Hard Drives in Stripe Both Maxtors (140g)The problem is that i gettin this error and i cant boot into windows to matter what i do. I tried the recovery console FIXBOOT and FIX MBR dont work. Chkdsk /r say i may have one or more errors, but doesnt scan.
The Hard Drives are on a Fastrak MB133 Raid Striped. I dont want to loss any information because it is valuable to my work. I think the hard drives are fine because the stipe is still functional according to the raid utility.
I read it might be possible to make a boot disk to get around the boot error. I have my boot.ini lookin like this[boot loader]
timeout=30
Default= scsi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\windows[operating systems]
scsi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\windows="Windows XP"Not sure if that right. I have the driver labeled ntbootdd.sys on the disk as well with ntldr and ntdctect.exe. But no luck comp is saying it a unvalid system disk.
I was wondering if im doing anytihng wrong with the disk or are there any other options ro get the stored information. Id rather not mail the harddrives to a company, as i need the information soon.
One thing i did notice is that windows hangs a little when trying to examine the hard drives in the console, might be cause thier size.
Everything was workin till this morning when i found this error on my screen.

Maybe helpful info:
The Purpose of the Boot.ini File in Windows XPHOW TO: Edit the Boot.ini File in Windows XP
Print the articles to use as reference.

Those websites do help but i still dont really know how to setup the boot.ini i got the basic setup down but i dont know if i need it to say scsi(0,1,or 2). Im new to the raid setup. Normally its zero. That didnt work. Ones didnt work. But the question is how do i figure out the values for (x)s in the boot.ini.
Also if anyone has anyother ideas for recovering the data it would be apperciated.

According to the links u gave me my boot.ini should work, any idea why im gettin invalid system disk? I do have a striped raid i dont know if that changes anything

I have the same problem.
My disk won't boot, but I can access the data if I boot up on something else.
I've tried to wipe the disk, create a new partition, format the partition and install Win XP.
But all without luck.
What's interesting is that I bought a new hardrive on which I copied over the image of the defected one. So now I have two disk's with the same problem.
Any suggestions?
