Hi,

Before I bought windows xp, I had windows Me, and my download speed was about 4-5Kbps.(after I tweaked it at: http://tweakhomepc.virtualave.net/net/fastfix.shtml I tried using that to tweak with xp but I can't find the network and dial-up networking) Now my speed is about 1-2Kbps, what can I do to make my download speed faster? Is there any tweaks for windows xp that would make my download speed faster?
I have tried tweakdun and windows xp modem tweak guide at: http://www.techspot.com/tweaks/winxp_modem/index.shtml and it made little if any difference.
I also have AVG-antivirus(its up to date) and Zonealarm(it is also up to date)
Also when I am on the web, my connection will not download pages, and I look and it says it received errors, how do I stop errors? Also the compression is way higher on the sending data then receiving data.
thanks,
MOHAA

There is a pretty robust program called AutoPatcher
XP
that tweaks XP,unfortunately it is almost 200Mb in size.

Regarding the pages not loading you could try repairing Internet Explorer and possibly download Java Runtime.

Reinstall OE or IE

NOTE: You must be logged in as Administrator

Click start, run, and then type the following

%systemroot%\inf

note: no spaces

Locate the ie.inf. Right click the file and then click install. This will reinstall the files that IE needs.

To stop those error go into IE >> Tools >> Internet Options >> advanced >> browsing.

Checkmark "Disable script debugging" and uncheck "Display notification about every script error".
