My laptop has had a problem since new, and it was deemed an XP problem, and I gave up troubleshooting it a long time ago. Now it's agrivating me...
When my laptop goes to sleep time to time during the day and wakes up, it works fine. When I sleep it at night and wake it in the morning, it's horribally slow, and in task manager, system processes is 99%. it never stops, and i have to force power off because it's too slow to even do a shut down.
updated drivers, no go.. reinstalled windows, no go.. updated bios and also a no go.. tried xp of all sp's, no sp, sp1, sp2 and sp3, no go.
what can it be? it's clearly a sleep mode (S3?) issue..

UPDATE: A simple short sleep does it too, I never noticed that before.
UPDATE2: Hibernate works fine, no slowness.
Downloaded Process Explorer, and the cause for the system 99% is the ntoskrnl.exe NT kernel.
I guess I'm screwed.

That doesn't mention my problem AT ALL.
Actually, I did a test. Without my video drivers, it sleeps fine.
ATI Radeon 7000 Mobility. However, being a Dell, I MUST use Dells driver, which is from 2003. I tried Mod Tool to allow the new ATI drivers, but it kills D3D and OpenGL.
